Describe what has changed
Is the airflow strong but warm, or is very little air coming through? Does cooling disappear after a recent recharge? Is there a smell, an unusual sound or a difference between vents? This history helps the technician understand the enquiry.
Check the normal controls described in your handbook and make sure the air-conditioning function is selected. Avoid adding refrigerant yourself before the system and the correct specification have been checked.
What a regas can do
For a serviceable system, Licence to Chill recovers the remaining refrigerant, draws a vacuum to remove air and moisture, recharges to the vehicle’s specified amount and checks cooling performance. We work with R134a and R1234yf; the correct requirements are confirmed from the vehicle.
A recharge restores the specified refrigerant charge. It does not mend leaking pipework, repair a failed component or resolve every electrical problem. If a fault is suspected, we explain what further work may be needed.
What about an unpleasant smell?
A musty smell can be associated with contamination in the ventilation system or a cabin filter that needs attention. A regas replaces refrigerant; it is not a cleaning treatment and should not be sold as a guaranteed cure for smells. Tell us about the smell when you enquire so we can explain the scope of our service.
